It’s been 11 years since Gossip Girl first aired on the CW, but we’re still just as obsessed with the show’s iconic fashion. For six mesmerizing seasons, we followed the fictitious lives of Manhattan’s elite—getting caught up in their schemes, plot twists and love triangles (Chair or Dair, anyone?) Yet, above all the drama, the thing that has really stayed with us after all this time is the style. Fallouts, heartbreaks and reconciliations just seemed so much more glamorous in headbands, colorful hosiery and Manolos.
But, Gossip Girl holds an even more special place in our heart. It was part of the inspiration behind By Lilla. We loved the idea of tying (pun intended) fashion with hair elastics. Following S and B’s lead, we set out to elevate our outfits with hair ties that double as jewelry.
To honor some of our favorite characters, we wanted to show you how to recreate their looks with By Lilla hair accessories.
Blair Waldorf: Classic, preppy, polished
Socialite Queen B’s eye for perfection shines all the way through to her silky hair and its neat waves. The petite doe-eyed brunette rarely had a hair out of place, and a wardrobe fit for royalty. We can totally see Blair in Black Tie and Joan Bennet.
Serena van der Woodsen: Trendsetting, bubbly, free-spirited
Serena is pretty much the complete opposite of Blair. Charismatic and care-free with tresses of golden blonde hair to match. We know that Serena would be all about mix and matching her stacks, but we think Smokin’ Hot and Wine Not would be her staples.
Jenny Humphrey: Rebellious, edgy, rock chic
As Little J rebelled against the status quo, her style evolved with her personality: from sweet school girl to rule-breaking fashion designer. Her platinum blonde hair and bold makeup show she’s not afraid to stand out from the crowd. We think Jenny would love our Words collection, especially Bad Ass and Goal Digger.
Vanessa Abrams: Boho, laid-back, festival fashion
Brooklyn-bred Vanessa is an aspiring filmmaker and probably the most down-to-earth of all the characters. Her laid-back personality comes across in her quirky, bohemian style. We’d love to see Vanessa, Spotted: Wearing Donut Kill My Vibe and Art Deco.
Which Gossip Girl character do you relate to? We’d love to know how you recreate their looks! Let us know in the comments.
XOXO By Lilla
Ps. If you never watched the show (!) or need a quick refresh, we love this oldie, but goodie from PopSugar:
